Picture Perfect day for 20th Annual Rescue Parade
by Jane Dempsey – Photos by Linda Ford

It was 75 degrees on a beautiful sunny Sunday in Beverly Hills as we held our 20th Annual Old English Sheepdog Rescue Parade at the City of Beverly Hills Woofstock 90210. Our entry this year was 37 OES. As the morning went on, we worried about attendance but it seemed that many were running late due to the “spring forward” time change. Luckily, all but two OES made it on time for their names to be announced. We were honored that our wonderful Internist Dr. Richard Martin handed out ribbons to all the dogs.

Chris Best was wonderful as MC and even managed to ad-lib a delay when Audrey “made a quick stop at the powder room”. Bear (not great in groups) was the “invisible dog” as his owner held an empty lead. Other OES heeled in the parade and made their owners proud.

Photo ops abounded! Individual photos brought big smiles. The unique candid shots are great. Each year we are reminded how hard it is to get 41 OES to line up in a straight line.

Individual and group photos were done on the putting green. A ceremony thanked the OES who participated in the memorial service in February for Sheriff Deputy Jeremiah MacKay. Gary and Suzi Sacha brought Ziva and Freddie, Jan Mc Clary brought Spirit and Linda Zimmerman brought Hudson. We presented a ribbon to thank each of these OESCA members for representing the breed so well.

A very big thank you to other OESCA members in attendance: Kristi and Marilyn Marshall, Terry Kaufmann, Diane Reynolds, Mark and Pam Savoie, and Sharon Thralls for all their help before and with the event. It definitely takes a group to make an event!
